In the latest “Emily in Paris” season, Emily and her friends were pictured with the fancy-looking cocktail during a scene that was shot below the Ferris wheel at the Place de la Concorde, a public square in Paris.
The Kir Royale cocktail is a popular one in France. It is made with two-ingredient, Creme de Cassis and champagne. It is also simple to make: all you need to do is pour the Creme de Cassis into a champagne flute and top it with a champagne of your choice.
On Twitter, there were many comments on the topic with many claiming that the cocktail is about to become the number one tourist beverage next summer, beating Aperol Spritz, a drink that gained popularity during the Sicily-set second season of “The White Lotus.”
One twitter user wrote: « Watch how Paris is going to be full of tourists drinking Kir Royale next summer. Aperol Spiritz, out! I also suspect this ugly beret will be everywhere. And bring your Lysol wipes if you’re going to ride the Grande Roue.”
Some others predicted that the Royale cocktail would also take the place of the Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco, a drink that became popular after Emma D’Arcy claimed it was their drink of choice.
Of course, there were also a few folks that horrified to discover Emily had only just found the cocktail. How popular it truly becomes remains to be seen, but many believe the Kir Royale cocktail is on its way to becoming a brunch cocktail.
