If you’d like to improve your immune system this winter, taking a daily energy shot of turmeric and ginger is a good way to do it. The two active ingredients, turmeric, and ginger, both possess great health benefits.
Not only do they have anti-inflammatory abilities, but they also relieve cold and flu symptoms. Ginger is known to aid overall digestion, and turmeric contains curcumin, which supports the immune system.
Besides the health benefits, it also gives you a zing of energy when you drink it. Think coffee, but healthier and non-addictive.
Ingredients you’ll need — ½L
Making the turmeric-ginger energy shots will take about 10 minutes of your time. You’ll need:
- 120 g of turmeric
- 140 g of ginger
- 2 big lemons
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
Making the turmeric-ginger energy shots
- Get the ginger and turmeric peeled with a spoon. The turmeric leaves a lot of stains so it is recommended that you use gloves. After you finish peeling them, put them in a bowl.
- Squeeze the lemon and add the lemon juice to the contents of the bowl, then use a blender or food processor to blend everything together until it becomes smooth.
- If the mix is too thick, add some more lemon juice and if you’re out of that, use water. After achieving a suitable texture, pour the blended mixture into a nut milk bag with a bowl underneath. Tip: the turmeric will certainly turn your nut milk bag yellow. So, it is best to dedicate one such bag to the making of your turmeric shots bag.
- When that’s done, squeeze out all the liquid. You should get about 1/2 liter of fresh juice that you can store in a glass container.
Keep it refrigerated, and be sure to finish it within 7 to 10 days. If you want it to keep longer, add them to ice cube trays and have them frozen.
